Protecting Independent Artists' Rights
Independent musicians and songwriters face a persistent challenge: proving ownership of their creative work. Without access to expensive legal services, many artists risk having their music stolen or improperly credited. Traditional copyright registration is slow, costly, and inaccessible for most independent creators.
SongSecure's founders envisioned a platform that would leverage blockchain's immutable ledger to give every musician an affordable, legally verifiable proof of ownership for their songs. The solution needed to be simple enough for non-technical artists while being robust enough to hold up as evidence in legal disputes.
The technical challenge was significant: building a bridge between a user-friendly web application and the complex world of blockchain transactions, while keeping costs low enough to serve independent artists who operate on tight budgets.
Blockchain Meets Music, Simplified
We architected and built SongSecure's platform from the ground up, combining a user-friendly web application with blockchain technology for immutable proof of music ownership. The system allows artists to upload their songs, which are then timestamped and registered on the Ethereum blockchain, creating a permanent, tamper-proof record of ownership.
The Laravel-based backend handles user management, file processing, and certificate generation, while smart contracts manage the on-chain registration. Each uploaded song generates a unique cryptographic hash that is stored on-chain, providing irrefutable proof of when the song was registered and by whom.
We designed the user experience to abstract away blockchain complexity entirely. Artists simply upload their music, receive a digital certificate of ownership, and can verify or share their proof of registration at any time — all without needing to understand wallets, gas fees, or smart contracts.
