Five years ago, in November 2018, StrikingWeb was born from a simple conviction: businesses in India and beyond deserve world-class digital solutions without enterprise-level price tags. What began as a small team of passionate developers has grown into a full-service digital agency delivering web applications, mobile solutions, cloud infrastructure, and AI-powered experiences to clients across industries.

Today, as we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we want to take a moment to look back at the journey, share the lessons we have learned, and outline where we are headed next.

Where It All Started

In late 2018, the Indian tech landscape was evolving rapidly. Startups were mushrooming, traditional businesses were waking up to digital transformation, and the demand for quality web development was outpacing supply. We saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between affordable freelance work and expensive agency engagements.

Our first projects were WordPress sites and WooCommerce stores for small businesses in and around our local community. We focused relentlessly on quality, performance, and client communication. Word spread, and within the first year, we had completed over twenty projects and built a reputation for delivering on time and exceeding expectations.

Key Milestones Along the Way

2019 — Expanding Beyond WordPress

As client needs grew more complex, so did our technical capabilities. We started building custom web applications with React, Node.js, and cloud-native architectures on AWS. Our first Shopify Plus migration project taught us the intricacies of enterprise e-commerce and set the stage for a thriving e-commerce practice.

2020 — Navigating the Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic tested every business, and we were no exception. But it also accelerated digital adoption across industries. We helped restaurants launch delivery platforms, retailers build online storefronts, and educational institutions deploy e-learning systems. During this period, our team doubled in size, and we completed our first government sector project — a public health data dashboard that processed millions of records.

2021 — Cloud and Mobile Expansion

We formalized our cloud and DevOps practice, earning AWS certifications and building Kubernetes-based deployment pipelines for clients who needed high-availability systems. Our mobile development team shipped cross-platform apps with Flutter and React Native, serving industries from fintech to healthcare.

2022 — Embracing AI and Machine Learning

Recognizing the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, we invested heavily in building an AI and ML practice. We built recommendation engines, natural language processing pipelines, and computer vision solutions. This bet paid off handsomely when the generative AI revolution arrived in late 2022 and 2023.

2023 — Going Enterprise

This year marked our entry into true enterprise territory. We delivered large-scale projects involving microservices architectures, real-time data processing, and AI-powered customer service platforms. Our client roster now spans startups, mid-market companies, government agencies, and established enterprises.

By the Numbers

Five years of consistent effort has produced some numbers we are proud of:

Lessons We Have Learned

Five years in the trenches of software development have taught us some enduring lessons:

"The best technology decisions are the ones that solve real business problems, not the ones that look impressive on a slide deck."

Technology Is a Means, Not an End

Early on, we fell into the trap of recommending cutting-edge tools because they were exciting. Over time, we learned that the right technology is the one that solves the client's problem reliably, within budget, and with a maintenance path that makes sense for their team. Sometimes that means React and Next.js. Sometimes it means a well-optimized WordPress site. We have grown comfortable recommending whatever truly serves the client best.

Communication Beats Code

The projects that went sideways were rarely about bad code. They were about misaligned expectations, unclear requirements, or insufficient check-ins. We now invest as much effort in discovery workshops, regular sprint demos, and transparent project dashboards as we do in writing code.

Invest in People Before Processes

Tools and frameworks change every few years, but a strong engineering culture endures. We have prioritized hiring curious, collaborative engineers and giving them the space to learn and grow. Our internal learning programs, conference sponsorships, and open-source contributions all flow from this belief.

Quality Is Non-Negotiable

We have walked away from projects where the timeline made it impossible to deliver quality work. This has occasionally cost us revenue in the short term but has built a reputation that consistently brings referral business. Over 60 percent of our new clients come through word of mouth, and we consider that our most important metric.

What We Are Building Next

Looking ahead, we see several areas where we plan to invest and grow:

Thank You

None of this would have been possible without the trust of our clients, the dedication of our team, and the support of the broader developer community. Five years is a meaningful milestone, but it is also just the beginning. The pace of technological change is accelerating, and we are more energized than ever to help businesses navigate it.

Here is to the next five years of building, learning, and striking the web — one exceptional project at a time.
